tier 1 workpermits

The tier 1 workpermit scheme is being introduced and looks like it will go ahead in the next year or so, most companies in the industry are using the name in their marketing material and on their web sites.

Last update was this will introduced in 2008, once more dates are available, I will post them here.

They are issued by Work Permits UK for professions that are on the Skills Shortage List. Tier 1 work permits require less evidence to be produced to prove that they (your employer) could not find a person in the UK as Work Permits (UK) have already recognised that there are a shortage of people in the UK with those skills.

Note if your job role is not listed in the skills shortage list you may qualify through a tier 2 workpermit.

Things to know;

  • You need to have a job offer from a UK based company
  • They can be a new startup but this may be harder to guaruntee a successful application (speak to your OISC registered consultant)
  • You may have to leave the UK and go home to your country of residence (or at least leave maninland UK) to finish the second part of your work permit - Entry Clearance (EC).

If you dont have a job offer and are working in a skilled role you may be qualify for an HSMP visa.
